Knowledge of history, along with the spiritual treasure of art and culture, encompasses all the beautiful ideals of the world that shape its continuity into the future. The Chinese New Year , also known as the ‘Spring Festival ,’ is the most important traditional national celebration in China. It is a movable feast, as it follows the Chinese lunar calendar, taking place on the day of the second new moon after the winter solstice. It usually falls between January and February, and each year is named after an animal within a sixty-year cycle. The celebration is connected with ancient legends and myths and originally marked the beginning of the new spring season, the cultivation of the land, and the productive harvest. Over the centuries, it evolved and was enriched with philosophical and religious influences from Confucian teachings and Buddhism, embracing beliefs associated with attracting good fortune, renewal, harmony, unity, and hope. The festival is officially celebrated for fifteen days and has gained global recognition as a cultural event of outstanding heritage and timeless value. Throughout the country, decorations in the symbolic red color prevail, spectacular fireworks illuminate the skies, and rituals featuring mythical figures dominate the celebrations. Food preparation follows specific traditions and symbolic combinations intended to attract prosperity, longevity, and abundance (steamed buns, fish, vegetable rolls, pork). Family reunification is of paramount importance, accompanied by authentic customs deeply rooted in respect, blending ancient traditions with contemporary lifestyles. During the festive period, the country comes to a near-complete halt in professional activities, with a global impact on exports across all sectors. Today, the celebration is firmly established throughout Asia and has achieved worldwide resonance, with numerous events dedicated to the understanding of Chinese culture. For 2026, the Chinese New Year lasts from Tuesday, February 17, to Saturday, March 7, marking the Year of the Fire Horse, a symbol of powerful energy, transformation, success, and good fortune. The arts contribute to the defense of the fundamental values of human life. Creators of the spirit, through imagination and aesthetic vision, perpetuate the humanistic ideal. They draw inspiration from the past while giving form to the active present. Humanity and nature move together in creation, guided by the timeless universal questions of existence. Across the philosophical records of all civilizations, we find shared perceptions of human existence. In the pursuit of harmony and balance between soul and body, human happiness and well-being are sought. The Eurasian perspective is shaped by a sincere dialogue of timeless messages. It supports history, traditions, and moral values, safeguarding its cultural wealth. The visual coexistence of painters Ioanna Lin and Demosthenes Davvetas raises ancient yet perpetually relevant questions through contemporary expression. A creative dialogue unfolds, with shared perspectives as well as diverse expressions and artistic media, forming an engaging encounter. Ioanna Lin fully embodies the traditional culture and art of her homeland. She welcomes the “Spring Festival” inspired by nature, birds, and flowers, while her calligraphies convey auspicious wishes for the New Year. An airy dance of refined color harmonies, light forms, and meticulously crafted design reveals the elegance and discipline of her traditional knowledge. Demosthenes Davvetas, combining his multifaceted erudition, emerges as an inventive creator in both painting and poetic expression. The recognition of his work in distant China and his comparative philosophical study of the fundamental principles shared by Socrates and Confucius guide us toward self-awareness and the innate human sense of joy and beauty in life. Honorary Participation Nadia Bele presents a golden piece of jewelry: a horse’s head, the talisman of the year. Christos Georgoudakis showcases an impressive carved wooden horse, the symbol of the year. All participating creators share common visions and, through a collective spirit, present works of profound artistic imagination. They embody a distinguished intellectual culture, approaching knowledge—an integral part of the world’s cultural heritage—with sensitivity, emotion, respect, and scholarly research. ARTIST & WRITER: TSILAGA LINA. PUBLICATION HOUSE On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. , Andie Art Gallery and EPIKENTRO Publications will present the book Painters of the 20th Century by Lina Tsilaga , Professor Emerita at the University of West Attica, visual artist, and former Foreign Press Correspondent. The book will be presented by: Dr. Nikitas Chiotinis , Professor Emeritus at the University of West Attica and former Dean of the School of Applied Arts and Culture, Dr. Konstantinos Bouras, Poet, Theatre Scholar, Translation Scholar, and Critic, Dr. Petros Zounis , lecturer at the Department of Communication and Media Studies, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and at the NKUA–University of West Attica Postgraduate Program. Event moderator: Annita Patsouraki, Art Historian. Regarding the book, the author notes: “Even the mere reference to artistic creation in the 20th century fascinates us and fills us with curiosity to explore the cultural imprint of an era marked by major philosophical, political, and social transformations… The rapid pace at which events, sciences, the arts, and everyday life evolved led to an explosion of visual creativity, resulting in the succession of artistic movements and modes of expression at a much faster rate than in the previous century. This cultural mark is analyzed in the contents of the book through the perspective of an art creator.” At the same time, the painting exhibition by Lina Tsilaga titled Galactic Explosions will be inaugurated, featuring works that emerge from continuous research as well as inspiration drawn from the thematic content of her book. Exhibition curated by: Annita Patsouraki, Art Historian. Regarding this series of works, architect, visual artist, and author Kostas Livas has written: “Looking at these paintings of the decomposition of an already decomposed world, I cannot fail to discern the creator’s faith in something like this: since we inevitably decay, since decay is the beginning of the new, then let us die trying to understand our death—sometimes smiling, sometimes satirical, always leaving signs or messages of our journey… travelers into infinity. Paintings of reverie within our inner infinity.” BIOGRAPHY Lina Tsilaga Emeritus Professor at the University of West Attica , former President (2014–2019) of the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art. • CHRISTOS GEORGOUDAKIS - RETROSPECTIVA | AndieArt

Christos Georgoudakis solo exhibition showcasing his sculptures and Engravings CHRISTOS GEORGOUDAKIS “RETROSPECTIVA” Engraving - Sculpture 1987 - 2024 29 March - 27 April 2024 AndieArt Space inaugurates the solo exhibition of the Artist and Professor of Applied Arts, Christos Georgoudakis, entitled "Christos Georgoudakis, Retrospectiva, Engraving - Sculpture 1987-2024" , on Friday 29 March 2024, at 19.30 in the evening and will last until April 27. The exhibition also inaugurates the newly established Art space. Curated by Art Historian Anna Chassanakou , it presents selections of Georgoudakis' works - many of which leave his studio for the first time - It spans all the periods of his rich creative 40-year career, offering the opportunity to explore his development and contribution to both engraving and sculpture, he mainly serves. The exhibition is structured in thematic sections, dominated by his black and white linoleum engraving portraits depicting the most important and influential personalities of Greek Culture, iconic figures that defined the cultural and social wealth of the 20th and 21st centuries. Great writers and artists, iconic performers, legends of rebetiko, are immortalized by his own unique expressive idiom, capturing at the same time a path of quest, inspiration and creative relevance, while becoming his spiritual guides and his personal refuge. At the same time, the exhibition shows Georgoudakis' steel sculptures from his "Gordian Knots" and "Human Figures" series, some of which have been displayed in major Greek and international sculpture exhibitions. Among his works, there are also those of a conceptual character and a clear social commentary, such as his sculpture "Bleeding" or the engraving "Caryatides" which mirror social realities. Georgoudakis utilizes the possibilities of engraving and sculpture in a constant struggle of challenge and evolution. As the character of both forms of expression often requires special dexterity and high technical demands, they become in his hands a versatile visual tool with which he masterfully transforms handicraft into a Spiritual act, technique into Art. • RETROSPECTIVA - CURATOR'S NOTE | AndieArt

The curator describes the theme of Retrospectiva exhibition. Christos Georgoudakis - “Retrospectiva” Engraving - Sculpture 1987 - 2024 The exhibition presents selections of Georgoudakis’ works - many of which are coming out of his studio for the first time - from all periods of his rich creative career of almost 40 years. Georgoudakis, been recognized both for his educational contribution and his artistic work, offers us the opportunity to explore his development and contribution in the field of engraving and sculpture, which he mainly serves. The exhibition is structured in 4 thematic sections, dominated by his black and white engraved portraits on linoleum. These are portraits of the most important personalities of our culture , iconic Greek figures of the 20th and 21st centuries, with international impact. Great Writers and Artists, emblematic performers and legends of Rebetiko, are immortalized in each print, with its own unique idiom. The artist engraves the most special features of these figures who are often presented as ascetic figures, almost hierographically rendered, in a symbolic background, where the straight line follows the curve, the white color changes to black and light disappears in shadow, while often, the appearance of a color or object in the background adds both to the aesthetics - creating intensity, contrast or depth - and the semiotics of his design - it evokes feelings and memories. His gestures become a window into the inner psyche of these personalities, as well as his own, inviting the viewer to become the correspondent of the ideas they express. At the same time, the exhibition exhibits steel sculptures from his "Gordian Knot" and "Human Figures" series. In his sculptural work, Georgoudakis treats a difficult and "untamable" material, hard and solid, such as steel, which he forges to create simple steel silhouettes and tightly tied knots. The steel with his curved shapes and smooth forms combined with the solid nature, demonstrate the artist's mastery, if not the imposition, of his material. Finally a section of works of conceptual character and clear social commentary , such as his sculpture "Bleeding" or the engraving “Abduction”, function as a kind of timeless mirror reflecting social reality. Georgoudakis utilizes the possibilities of engraving and sculpture as a means of constant struggle, challenge and evolution. As the character of both forms of expression often requires special dexterity and high technical knowledge, they become in his hands a multifaceted visual tool, with which he masterfully transforms handicraft into a Spiritual act, technique into Art. His work cultivates a sense of immediacy and proximity, inviting the viewer to appropriate his works and live with them, as he does every day, in the sanctuary of his studio.
